Thrifty Treasures

I found this wreath for $2.00.  I plan to take the flowers off and do something with it.  If you have any ideas please let me know.  I want it to go out on the sun porch.

This next picture shows a few things that were just t00 cheap to pass up.
The foam board was a new unopened pack for 25 cents.  The wood plaque was 25 cents.  Will probably do something with chalkboard paint on it.  The paint (both almost full) was ????

That's right.  Each can was 1 cent.  It's old (2004 I think) but it may work on some little project. This lady had tons of stuff.  Everything I bought was 25 cents or less.

These two leaf things were $1 for both.  Not sure that I really like them but didn't want to regret not getting them.  So I will have to think about them for a while.  Any ideas?  The fabric was 5 cents.  

These picture frames were 25 cents each.  The plate stands were 5 cents each.  The picture holders were 25 cents.  I also got two big frames that were new for $1 each.  One still had the tag for $19.99 on it.  

I needed a gate to keep our puppy out of the kitchen while I cook.  This one was $1.

This lamp was 50 cents.  It already has a new coat of black paint on it.    Now I just need to figure out how to redo the lamp shade.  I've taken all the fabric off and just have the bones to the lampshade.  The little oval picture frame in the corner was also 25 cents.

This chair was free.  I got it and the sofa from a friend a while back.  Both are in perfect condition.  The only problem was the awful brown color.  I finally got the nerve to paint the chair.  I love it.  Next week I'll be painting the sofa.

New to Thrifty Treasures

This is only my third week yard sailing.  Who knew it could be so much fun.  After reading about everyone's great treasures, I decided to see what my area had to offer.  Here are a few of my "treasures" found this week.

This cutting board was 50 cents.  I plan to paint it white and put my initial on it.

This magazine rack was $1.00.  This was one of the things on my list to find.  It will get a  nice new look with some white paint.
Both of these things were a quarter each.  The tin I plan to paint with chalkboard paint.  Not sure what I plan to do with the cake stand.

This great iron shelf was only $3.  Surely, I'll find some place for it.

I love this picnic basket.  It is big and in perfect condition.  Price - only $2.  Also, in the picture is a new set of Pampered Chef fondue forks that I couldn't resist for only $1.

This is not exactly a yard sale find but is special because my teenager actually thought of me.

My son works at a major craft store.  A customer broke this and his manager "sold" it to him for 25 cents.  He was sure I would find something to do with it.

Finally Becoming Friends

The Giving Tree

My son and his friend collected items to keep children warm during the winter months. In the program they are in at school each student has to do a minimum of 15 hours of community service. The two of them decided to use this idea as part of their community service.

Here are the pictures of the Giving Tree. All of the mittens, hats, and socks collected will be distributed to the kids at the soup kitchen.

The New Family Member

There is a girl who has this blog http://byebyepie.typepad.com and if you have never read it you need to head on over there right now. Well not right now after you read this post about her and my new family member.

June is obsessed with animals. She picks dogs up off the street and goes to the dog park and lets dogs pee on her leg. She finds stray cats at work. You no the obsessed animal type. She's the type that just loves animals no matter what they do. My 14 year old likes to look at her blog and the two of us laugh like crazy at her all the time. My husband has yet to figure out who this June is or where we know her from. But we can be riding down the road and just spit out something that June said and crack ourselves up.

Anyway, to the point of the new family member. Yesterday at the mall there were 10 million people so we decided to leave and since we didn't have anything better to do we went to visit the animal shelter. We were just going to visit and talk to the dogs. Then we saw this puppy. Somehow we started talking about when June decided to do DNA tests on her dog and all the time she thought the dog had some lab in her it was Pit Bull. We went outside and took some pictures to bring home to show the rest of the family. Once we got home we didn't wait on anyone else we just turned right around and went back to the shelter and picked up that little puppy.

Of course we had to think of some really cute name for the puppy and you know the best we could come up with - JUNE. Yep, she's a June alright. We have no idea what kind she is other than a mix. But she acts like a June, looks like a June, and whines not that June ever whines.

Let me tell you the husband wasn't real happy about this new edition. I tried to tell him I picked her up on the side of the road but I couldn't just lie. And guess who else DOES NOT LIKE Miss June. Our 8 year old rescue dog, Lucky. She's so mad she won't even sit beside me on the sofa.

One last thing. June poops all the time. I need help. How do I train her to go outside?
